NEW HOME IS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ONE LIVERPOOL FAMILY!
News
Just five weeks after a life changing move, the Evans family from Edge Hill in Liverpool all agree they are still pinching themselves in case their new home is just a dream.
They've moved into a specially adapted three bedroom house as part of the Housing Market Renewal programme with the help of Senior Home Ownership Advisory Officer (now Regeneration Initiatives Manager) Lesley Penton.
The Evans' had lived in nearby Martensen Street for forty years and were very much against moving as part of the clearance programme in the area.
77 year old Father, Tom has health and mobility problems, his son David has special needs and daughter Pam looks after them both.
"I was very much against it at first," says Pam "but then Lesley said she wouldn't rest until she found a property that would suit our needs and when we saw this one, we decided to take the plunge and it was the best plunge we ever made!"
The Evans' moved into a house on the new Williamson Place Bellway development in Edge Hill where Tom was able to have a bedroom downstairs with an ensuite bathroom, David has a large upstairs room and Pam has the other upstairs bedroom which also has an ensuite.
"I've got cleaning products all over the place!" Pam laughs "We've never had so many bathrooms!"
"The central heating is out of this world" adds Tom. "The walls were crumbling in the old house because of the damp and you couldn't even put a picture up whereas this is bright, clean and warmer! I feel like my health has improved in the short time that we've been here I certainly don't cough as much. "
Lesley Penton the Regeneration Initiatives Manager who oversees the Home Ownership Advisors said:
"It was absolutely crucial to improve the quality of the Evans family's lives by finding them the right home. The role of the Home Ownership Advisors is to support people during what can be difficult or stressful times and each family's situation is unique. I'm delighted that they are settling in so happily into their new house. "
Leader of Liverpool City Council Joe Anderson said:
"This is a prime example of what the Housing Market Renewal funding has been achieving in the city. Families moving to better homes for a better quality of life. I hope that the Evans family are very happy in their new home and we will continue working towards offering more families in similar situations the same opportunities."
Brendan Nevin, Managing Director of NewHeartlands the HMR Pathfinder for Merseyside said:
"Hearing stories like these makes you realise why Housing Market Renewal is needed in cities like Liverpool and why we should continue fighting for funding to provide homes for people like the Evans.'"
