Liverpool - Stanley Park

The Stanley Park Zone of Opportunity is located in the North of Liverpool, adjacent to the City Centre North Zone of Opportunity and around the Everton and Liverpool football stadiums. It includes one major Renewal Area; Anfield / Breckfield, which is one of Liverpool's biggest, covering 4,960 properties.

Why has my area been chosen for regeneration?

The Stanley Park Zone is characterised by a large amount of terraced properties built before 1919, a low demand for terraced homes and a high number of empty properties. A significant programme is well underway to restructure the housing market imbalance. It has the largest clearance programme within the NewHeartlands Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder area.

What is happening?

The programme in Anfield / Breckfield includes the demolition of approximately 1,800 residential and commercial properties.

Many of the properties have been vacant for years, as the demand for this type of housing has decreased, due in part to families preferring homes with gardens and off street parking. Reducing the amount of terraced properties will help ensure there is demand for the retained properties and enable new homes with gardens and parking spaces to be built on the sites where properties have been cleared. It is vital that the area has a mix of properties suitable for meeting the needs of the local and future populations.

Investment in Existing Stock

A refurbishment programme in the sustainable neighbourhoods is also being rolled out systematically to improve both the environment and the front elevations of houses, and this has been ongoing since 2004.
